Nettle, purple gromwell and rhubarb root, slow-infused into oil, with rosemary and peppermint on top and a base of castor, pumpkin seed, argan, grapeseed, MCT and sea buckthorn oils.

Purple gromwell has been used in Chinese medicine for skin for centuries — it is the deep red one, and it is the reason this serum is the colour it is. Massage it in, leave it to work, wash it out.

Dry, tight or flaky scalps, and hair that has gone dull, brittle or frizzy.

Use it on the scalp first and the lengths second.

What it does

Softens a dry scalp and leaves hair smoother and easier to manage.

It is an oil, so it washes out — this is a before-shampoo step, not a leave-in. Most people notice the difference in the scalp before they notice it in the hair.

How to use

Massage a small amount directly into the scalp, then work what is left through the lengths.

Leave for at least 30 minutes, or overnight on a towel. Shampoo out — you may need two washes. Two or three times a week.

Questions

Is it hard to wash out?
It is an oil, so it takes a proper shampoo and sometimes two. Use less than you think, and work the shampoo in before you add water.

Will it stain my pillow?
Purple gromwell is deep red. If you leave it in overnight, use an old pillowcase or a towel.

Does the tingle mean it is working?
It means there is rosemary and peppermint in it. That is all it means — a scalp that stings rather than tingles has had too much.
